All my life I've loved working with my hands—seeing things grow, being creative, and making functional and artistic use of space and materials. I've been a licensed contractor for over a decade now, but I spent ten years in the business before then and grew up learning from my father. I was born in Oregon and now live in Salem with my extended family. In between projects, you can find me outside in my garden, hiking, spending time with family, and thinking about interesting ways to salvage, repurpose, or upcycle materials for my own projects—and maybe for yours!

As a child I was fortunate enough to spend countless hours with my father and uncles in the shop making furniture or at family’s houses installing brick fireplaces, building gazebos, or just fixing things on the farm. This upbringing instilled in me the idea that making things that were needed is not only possible but was normal. I loved every minute of that time. As a young man I took a job in the trades starting at the bottom building foundations for new homes. Then I worked up to framing homes, followed by running large commercial structural framing jobs. I still enjoy the adventure of building things. Every job is different and I love the satisfaction of making something new out of either a pile of raw materials or something old and worn out. It feels like being with family.
